| How long will it take to pay back? This Depends on a number of factors, the size of the boiler, the fuel supply, where the boiler has to be located. Please get in touch with us and we can discuss the project in more detail and to arrange for a site consultation. Do I need planning permission? In Scotland you will require planning permission if the store and boiler room are new buildings. If existing buildings are being adapted to be used, this requires a building warrant. We have a team of architects on hand to deal with these enquiries. Please contact us for further information. Where do I get my fuel from? If you are fortunate to own a piece of woodland then you could provide the fuel yourself. That’s right - free heating and hot water! If you don’t own any woods we can supply the wood fuel of your choice and also have it delivered to your fuel store. The majority of the fuel is from local woodlands to your area, thus helping reduce the cost of it being delivered. Can I convert my existing oil/gas fired central heating? Yes, is the simple answer. What we tend to do is leave the oil boiler where it is and it can be used if needed as a back-up, i.e. when your biomass boiler is being service. The existing radiators and hot water systems do not have to be modified in any way. We install the biomass boiler by just tapping into the existing network of pipes. If required we can remove the old boiler to create more room. How often dose the biomass boiler need serviced? We recommend that the boiler is serviced annually, which we can arrange for this to be carried out. How often does the ash need emptying? This depends on the type of boiler. For log boilers you can just empty the ash at the same time you fill it with logs. For the bigger systems, community schemes or commercial, the ash only needs emptied every couple of months. homepage | about us | contact us | biomass | our products | FAQ | grants |
